Oi. Hassles.

Welp.

We need a new roof. That's $7,000. Fortunately, my Mother In Law can take care of that and our damn car.

The car literally dropped its belly completely to the pavement today. The front end of it, anyway.

$150 for a check to see what's going on. $970 to fix it to the point it will JUST run, no guarantees for how long. And they say after it's at that point, they can give us a quote for how much to handle the problem entirely. UGH! ... (more inside)

Speak Up While You Still Can, but be aware

You know you're living in seriously fucked up times when suddenly you are afraid to post what you think about the governmental leaders.

Every time I post about hating that orange fucker, I wonder if this is the one that will get the goddam feds to show up at my door and drag me away.

At the same time, I refuse to be silenced. I damn well speak my mind until they drag me away from my keyboard, put me up against a fucking wall, and fill me with bullets.

This insanity is not normal, folks. It's not freedom. It's not legal. And it's not RIGHT.

Be afraid, be very afraid. But DO NOT let the fascists silence you!

Chronic illness can bite my shiny pink ass

And my shit health progresses.

I can no longer sleep when I lie down, because I struggle to get complete breaths, then wake up fully due to hypoxia, fighting to catch a breath.

I was up all night like this. And this was far from the first night. So I told Sam shit needs to change...

Does it get any cuter?

NOPE! :)

That's my spot!

Romeo thinks he is Sheldon Cooper.

If Cubby is curled up next to me and Romeo decides it's time to be on the bed, the little shit starts yapping at Cubby "You're in my spot! YOU'RE IN MY SPOT!" until I tell Cubby he needs to move. Then Romeo jumps up and curls up in the spot. For two minutes, before he moves over to lay on my pillow.

He's an absolute little shit. But he's cute, so I allow him to live.

War Crimes Against Children

A father carries the corpse of his 18 month old daughter - 18 months

My Jewish friends are going to block me, I'm sure.

What's going on over there is fucking awful. Yes, Hamas has committed atrocities. Yes, they took hostages. Yes, they have killed people.

Meanwhile, 6 Israeli children have died in this conflict, and that is fucking HORRIBLE! It is it's fucking horrible and horrifying and terrible and should have never happened. And there is NO excuse for the deaths of children in a conflict.

Meanwhile, we have this, from Save the Children (follow link):

Book Review: The Outsiders, by SE Hinton

The OutsidersThe Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Have you ever read a book that changed your life?

For me, it was this book, which I first read when I was fourteen years old, over forty years ago.

Ponyboy Curtis lives with his two brothers, Darry and Sodapop, in Oklahoma, on the wrong side of the tracks. Their parents died in a car accident some time prior to the events of the book, and Darry is struggling to hold what's left of the family together, while working as a roofer.

One year stroke survivor!

An important anniversary passed and I didn't even notice.

One year and thirty days ago, on October 1 of 2024, I had a stroke. Luckily, it was VERY minor and I have had no residual issues. I have been absolutely RIGID about taking my blood thinners and all that, and seeing my cardiologist about my atrial fibrillation, to ensure that doesn't get any worse, which can cause strokes.

Yay for minor strokes and surviving!

I'm pasting in common signs of stroke. Watch for these in yourself and in your loved ones. For me, it was the fact that I couldn't type accurately with my left hand that made me think I best go to the ER.

If you experience any of these signs, get your ass to the hospital, PRONTO! Early and fast treatment is key to surviving with minimal lingering and disabling problems.

Common Signs:
  • FAST:
    • Face: Facial drooping on one side
    • Arms: Weakness or numbness in one arm
    • Speech: Difficulty speaking, slurred speech, or inability to understand speech
    • Time: Act quickly! Call 911 immediately
  • Sudden numbness or weakness in one side of the body
  • Sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes
  • Sudden severe headache
  • Dizziness or loss of balance
  • Confusion or difficulty understanding speech
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Double vision
Other Possible Signs:
  • Seizures
  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Loss of coordination
  • Sudden changes in mood or behavior
Remember:
  • Stroke symptoms can vary depending on the affected area of the brain.
  • Some symptoms may only last a few minutes, while others can last for hours or days.
  • Even if symptoms resolve on their own, it's important to seek medical attention to rule out a stroke and prevent future complications.
