More on Vegemite, just because!




I fucking LOVE Vegemite.

It's thick, viscous, salty, and kind of musty tasting, and it positively REEKS of yeast. You do not GROW to like it, you either do or you don't. There is positively no middle ground. You love it or you despise it. Period. Nobody has EVER said, "Well, when it comes to Vegemite, I can take it or leave it!"...

I love the stuff. I love it more than a lot of Aussies I know. I eat it as follows:

Method one: I put butter on a Saltine. I add some Vegemite (by "some" I mean a thick layer, because I do not do things by halves. Australians tend to put a thin scraping of it.). I add a little extra sharp cheddar, the yellow Vermont kind. Cheese should not be fucking ORANGE! Orange cheese is an abomination unto Nuggan. I stuff it in my face.

Method two (NOT recommended for amateurs): I dip a spoon into the jar, I raise it to my mouth, and proceed to lick and lick until it's all gone.

Milk is the perfect beverage for Vegemite.
