Let Them Eat Cake? Or Should They Eat The Rich?

A conversation snippet with my friend Gale inspired me to do some quick research and write up my thoughts about the super rich. Here we go:
The Billionaire Buffet: A Masterclass in Greed

I’m sitting here looking at a world where a handful of men; specifically narcissists like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg; are hoarding wealth at a rate that is statistically impossible to "earn" through actual labor. We aren't talking about "innovation" anymore; we're talking about a level of hoarding that would be classified as a mental illness if it involved newspapers or stray cats instead of trillions of dollars. While Musk treats a $800 billion net worth like a high score in a video game and Bezos builds "support yachts" for his megayachts, one in four people on this planet are regularly skipping meals just to survive.

It’s not a "resource" problem; it’s a "gatekeeper" problem. We have the food, we have the medicine, and we have the tech to make sure no child goes to bed hungry. What we don't have is a global spine. We’ve allowed a tiny group of ghouls to treat the planet like their personal piggy bank while billionaires are now 4,000 times more likely to hold political office than you are. It’s a rigged game; but nobody’s laughing except the people at Davos who are currently figuring out how to tax your breathing while they pay effectively zero. And some of us are getting mighty pissed off. Just ask Luigi how HE feels.

The Hard Numbers: March 2026 Data

If the op-ed above sounds like a rant, it’s because the actual math is a goddamn insult to humanity. Here is the straightforward breakdown:

The $800 Billion Man: As of March 2026, Elon Musk’s net worth has surged to approximately $833 billion. He is now wealthier than the bottom 53% of all American households combined.

The "Dozen" Rule: The 12 richest billionaires; a list that includes Larry Page ($250B), Sergey Brin ($231B), and Jeff Bezos ($229B); own more than the bottom half of the human race. That is 4.1 billion people's survival tied up in 12 bank accounts.

The "Buy, Borrow, Die" Loophole: This is the scam of the century. Billionaires like Zuckerberg and Bezos don't take a "salary" that can be taxed. Instead, they live off massive bank loans taken out against their stock. Since a loan isn't "income," they pay 0% income tax on the money they spend to live like kings. When they die, the "step-up in basis" rule wipes out the capital gains taxes, allowing their heirs to inherit the fortune tax-free.

The Cost of Ending Hunger: The UN estimates $93 billion a year could end world hunger by 2030. For perspective, if Elon Musk were taxed just 5% of his wealth under current 2026 proposals, that $42 billion check alone would cover nearly half the global cost for a year.

The Math of Excess: Billionaires in the US alone are now collectively worth $8.2 trillion. Since 2020, they have become $1.5 trillion richer, while 60% of Americans are currently living paycheck to paycheck.

Carbon Inequality: The wealthiest 1% are responsible for more carbon emissions than the poorest 66% of the world. They are literally melting the planet to make numbers go up on a screen they’ll never even be able to spend.

The takeaway is simple

We aren't waiting for a "cure" for poverty or hunger. We’re just waiting for the check to be signed by people who have more ink than they could ever use in a thousand lifetimes.

Eat the fucking rich.
