Yesterday, the Supreme Court heard arguments about trans girls in girls’ sports.
Let’s stop pretending this is a good-faith debate.
The political right is openly demanding that two opposite things be true at the same time, and they don’t even care anymore if anyone notices.
In this case, they argue that puberty blockers aren’t effective enough to prevent male puberty advantages.
In every other context, they scream that puberty blockers are dangerous and interfere too much with development.
They want both claims to stand — even though they directly contradict each other.
And they don’t care.
Because the goal is no longer consistency.
It’s no longer optics.
It’s no longer fairness or “protecting women” or “following the science.”
The goal is to harm trans people — to exclude us, erase us, and make our lives harder by any argument available in the moment.
If the facts support them, they’ll weaponize science.
If the facts undermine them, they’ll ignore it and move on.
If the arguments contradict each other, so be it.
This case isn’t about sports.
It’s about power.
It’s about seeing how far they can go — how openly they can lie, how blatantly they can contradict themselves — and still get institutions to go along with it.
And the answer, right now, is: pretty far.
They aren’t confused.
They aren’t mistaken.
They’re done pretending.
And that should scare everyone paying attention.
