This is a reblog of an article written by my friend, David Hershey-Webb. David is an attorney in New York who fights for the rights of tenants. He's one of the finest and most intelligent and aware people I've ever known, and I have known him since I was 11 years old...
It is a shame that the Young Republican white supremacist chatters use of the N-word, and jovial references to gas chambers and killing political enemies and hatred toward non-heteros and such, took some of the spotlight away from the United States Supreme Court’s own embrace of the N-word as it hurled toward dismantling the Voting Rights Act.
The Supreme Court is ready to give a green light to the increasingly openly white supremacist Republicans Party’s efforts to insure the election of more white Congressional reps. SCOTUS majority is no better than the Young Republican chatters. In their hearts they are repeating the same N-word.
The “respectable” Wall Street Journal editorial board cheered on the Supreme Court, stating that “only” 15 districts could be affected. 15 districts where there are Black Congressional reps who happen to be Democrats. Only 15! Enough to keep the white supremacists in power for another decade or more. 15 Congressional districts where, in response to hundreds of years of legally-sanctioned white supremacy, “majority-minority” districts were created so that racial minorities in majority white states would have a chance to elect representatives of their own choosing. Because, guess what, white people are more likely to vote for white people! Guess what? Hundreds of years of white supremacy did not evaporate overnight. It is in fact on the resurgence.
And so the respectable Wall Street Journal editorial board and SCOTUS (yes, including white supremacists’ favorite Black person, Justice Thomas), are dreaming the N-word and doing everything they can to restore white people to their proper place as masters.
Their King Trump thinks it is pretty funny. In a recent speech he referenced “nuclear weapons” and then said that “nuclear” was an “N-word” that you’re not supposed to say. Then he said “not the other N-word that we can’t say.” Because the N-word is on his mind every day as he plays out his role as the Great White Hope.
I know what they are all saying in their private chat rooms and board rooms and country clubs. Same thing they’ve been saying since 1619.

Thank you for being my friend. People are leaving me alone. I agree that you are standing up for me. How are you feeling? What are you doing this week? I am okay. I am out of my suicide thought process. I hope you get rid of your flu because I hate the flu at anytime.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you've left that thought process behind, Jess! Life is worth hanging on to. Things always get better.
DeleteThank you for caring about my flu. It has ended, now I am working on regaining my energy. I am sleeping a lot! I should be back to normal soon.
This week I arranged my after I die plans by signing up with the Neptune Society to cremate me when I die, because I didn't want my family to have to sort that out when the time comes.
I will be paying them about $55 a month for the next 5 years, but if I die in a couple of weeks they will still take care of the whole thing and my family won't have to pay the rest! It's worth the money to me.
How is Ephraim? Romeo, Cubby, Connor, and Rocco say hi. :)
I have no real plans this week, just therapy. What about you?
Enjoy your week!
Thank you for being my friend through all this drama. Crystal Amon is also my friend contacting me about it too. I need to keep positive instead of sticking to the negative things in my life. Things will get better. I appreciate the encouragement.
ReplyDeleteYour welcome because I truly do care about you as a friend. I am so happy that your flu went away. I am happy with maybe my new assignment at work. The group I was going too was toxic, so I just want to get out of the town. I hope you get back to normal soon. I am happy that you help me out.
That is depressing to hear about Neptune Society. I don't want to think about you dying. If you died then how would I get a hold of you. If you die then I want to be at your funeral. I might die before you. You want to help your family.
That is not bad to pay fifty five dollars a month for five years. I don't want to think about death. You can have someone contact me if something bad happens to you. I am here for you. Your family does not mind helping you out.
Ephraim has been nicer to me. I love the name Romeo. I don't know how you got that Cubby name, but it is cute. Did you name Rocco after Rocco's Modern Life on television. Tell me more about your pets. I love animals so much.
Well I am working then I have to be somewhere tomorrow. I don't have anything planned for this weekend.
Enjoy your week too.
I named Rocco after a character in the Boondock Saints movie. Cubby I named in honor of my old dog, Bear, because Cubby looks like a smaller version of Bear, so "Cub".
DeleteRomeo is named after a Boondock Saints character, and so is Connor.
They are all such good boys! You would love them, they are real sweethearts!
