Yes, Jesse Welles wrote a song about the killing of Charlie Kirk. NO, it was NOT a pro-gung ho-Charlie is a martyr song.
It was a song about gun violence and freedom of speech...
If you're hating on Jesse for speaking his mind on gun violence, confusing it for him praising Kirk, you're a special kind of stupid. The first fucking verse points out Kirk's assholery in no uncertain terms, and goes on to say nobody should die for an OPINION. The rest of the song talks about the hypocrisy of praising the shooter because a man (albeit a horrible man!) was killed, and the fact that Kirk, just like you and I, had the right to speak his disgusting and hateful mind.
Read the fucking lyrics for yourself.
_________
For all of the bile
The bold talk
The venom, the hate and the lies
No one should get killed
No blood should be spilled
Charlie shouldn't have died
[Verse 1]
Well you can't hate the gun
And love the gun that shot your rival
You can't be kind
And wish hate upon a child
Everybody's gotta say what they're needing to say
As soon as they're needing to say it
The freedom to speak, to be a freak
And the freedom to say you hate it
And have a big ole conversation
[Refrain]
I heard laughing
I heard glee
But it could've been you
It could've been mе
Out in the bloodshed, evеryone loses
There's unforgettable scars
Out in the bloodshed, permanent bruises
Shapes up who you are
Children left to wander America aimless
With a firebrand of resent
Wondering "Who it is took my daddy?"
With a destiny of revenge
[Pre-Refrain]
Out in the bloodshed, the cycle begins
And everyone dies
Spin the wheel, if you don't get killed
You wind up dead inside
[Refrain]
I heard laughing
I heard glee
But it could've been you
It could've been me
