SCOTUS finally did what everyone with a functioning frontal lobe knew was coming. They looked at Trump’s tariff stunt, checked it against the Constitution, and said no. Not maybe. Not sort of. Not later. Just fucking NO!
According to the reporting, the ruling was simple. A president does not get to rewrite trade law because he feels like playing Tough Motherfucker. Congress did not authorize the kind of free for all Trump tried to pull. The Court reminded everyone that presidential power has fucking limits. That is their goddam job. That is the whole point of the fucking judiciary.
And Trump reacted exactly how he always reacts when someone refuses to kiss the friggin' ring...
He blew up. He absolutely fucking RAGED. He accused the Court of betrayal. He acted like the justices owed him personal loyalty instead of loyalty to the Constitution. He behaved like the entire government exists to validate his pathetic, childish, arrogant feelings. It was a tantrum loud enough to shake the paint off the fucking walls.
Here is the part that really shows the rot. Trump expects loyalty to him. Not to the country. Not to the law. Not to the system he swore to uphold. To him. He treats every institution like it is supposed to be his goddam personal fan club. And when the Supreme Court did what the Supreme Court is supposed to do, he acted like they stabbed him in the fucking back. Just FYI: They damn well didn't.
The tariffs were already a friggin' disaster. They raised prices for EVERY American. They hammered businesses into the ground. They triggered retaliation from other countries. This ruling reins that in. It restores the balance of power. It puts the brakes on a policy that was built on an inflated ego instead of sensible strategy.
But the meltdown tells the real story. Trump cannot handle a world where he is not the sun everything fucking orbits. The Court reminded him that the Constitution outranks his overinflated and tumescent ego. They showed loyalty to the document they swore to uphold. Not to the man who demands obedience like it's his fucking birthright.
And that is exactly why the ruling mattered.
